As a solution, we set up a remote domain on servage.com which does adult hosting (our site is http://www.myboobtube.co.uk with obviously adult content) and I reprogrammed clipshare as follows:

1: When a video is uploaded it is inactive, modded the code to send me an email with a link to approve the ad. This is a custom script which shows thhe video from the cirtex server for me to approve or reject. When I click approve another script sets the video to active in the main clipshare database - it then redirects to a script on the servage domain passing the video number, and that script then copies the flv file from the flvideo folder on the main domain to an flvideo folder on the servage server.

2: Modded clipshare script to send filename for flvideo file to come from the new server. Doddle.

This gives you options to incentivise signup - get people to log in and then you can drive the video from a faster server.
How's this solution working out for you?

Seems like there's would still a lag period from passing info from one server to another especially if you have thousands of users trying to access/upload at the same time..is Servage.com shared?

i do this with my sites, though all on one server, but have linked to other free clones on other domains.
www.centreonet.com/scripts/clones/youtube.custom/purple/

I can modify the files if you need for a little cash, but its easy to do.
all sites point to one DB and users can upload from any, no redirects or anything

You install each clipshare like you normally would, except you set up each config file to point to the same database. You could have each site be totally different, all using the same user base and videos.

You could even separate parts of it if you knew how to modify the PHP and MySQL queries a bit. Same videos, different user base for example.

Don't forget you will nee dto setup internal symbolic links for video files, thumbnails, etc.. So all site will share the content but yet only have one copy on the server.

You can also setup a multi-server content environment which won't effect your license for heavy traffic sites. We use Amazon's S3 service to house content.

You can always use one clipshare installation, and on other sites on another domains use some free script and connect to clipshare database. It need some work but it can work and you dont broke cs license... anyway it is nonsense for me;] it is better to make one big site;]
