Unless you are planning in offering something similar Danny, I don't uderstand why you would question a mod that would drive sales to CS?

On a note, I highly respect the fact CS people allow this kind of discussion in their forums.

Hey
Is this mod using 1 or 2 databases, we have a VB forum and a CS site on 2 seperate domains, could we still use 2 databases independently but share the user/pass data between them? |

Hello -
yes, this is exactly the way this bridge was created: it allows integration of separate CS and VB installations. In fact, even on same server installations, we use the same code - in the long run, in fact, everybody probably needs to install CS and VB on separate servers (for example, CS has many affiliate hosting providers that cost much less - in terms of bandwidth - than hosting CS on your same server). So, yes - the integration is made of two parts: one to be deployed on CS side, the other on VB side. If the two installations are on the same main domain (for example, CS on clipshare.yourdomain.com and VB on vbulletin.yourdomain.com), you can also share cookies between them - which means users won't have to relogin if they are logged into any of the two scripts. The integration also works perfectly if you have the two different domains (like www.lukeskywalker.com and www.darthvader.com), but in this case you won't be able to share cookies between the two domains. In brief, it's a very lightweight, hassle-free bridge that should work perfectly in most situations. |

I've had other developers work on things for me and they delivery scripts and products that aren't complete or sloppily installed. I can honestly say that they have done the best job of any development group I've ever worked with! |

They have gone beyond the original scope with their support. And did everyone see the most recent script they wrote for me? Looks at the random video block on the front page of my vBulletin site. www.powwows.com/gathering This will really help me steer my users to this new section of my site. I've already seen a large increase in the traffic to Pow Wow TV! http://tv.powwows.com |

Does this bridge work with 3.0? What issues do we face when upgrading either Clip-Share or vBulletin? We are definitely interested in purchasing such a mod.

We have not a 3.0 version yet, this will take some weeks, as mentioned in a previous post. I have yet to try the CS3 upgrade script, but the upgrade from ClipShare 2.x to 3.x requires to revert the password fields back to unencrypted form, run the upgrade, and then resynchronize the two databases - we can do the revert thing for our clients.
About vBulletin's upgrades, they should cause little or no harm at all to the integration; and in any case, we will release updated packages also in this case. |

Hey Artanis,
if your website has low activity, running both CS and VB on the same server can be done, of course - the fact is that CS runs conversion processes that are necessarily heavy on the server, so once your website reaches a certain amount of simultaneous users, you will have to put CS and VB in separate servers. The mod for CS 2.6 is available, as we said, and we have no problem in installing it for you. We have a queue of clients with other add-ons right now, but I will be happy to give you a precise time estimate once you contact us. Contact us to our e-mail address if interested (development @ psfantasy.com). |
