I agree on the client conversion, that would save on upload time as well as server bandwidth.

Does it work in Wine on ubuntu?

Id be interested in a debian package if you can port it over to linux, of course with open source files i can alter to give highly custom options.

I was thinking about trying to make one for linux desktop users that would also utilize ffmpeg for desktop conversion with conversion options, and ability to process an entire directory

The application is developed with Borland C++ and VCL. I'm affraid it will be hard to port on Linux.
Hovewer the work is needed for UI only. AFAIK, Internet Direct (Indy) components are cross-platform.
