Re our post here:
http://forums.scriptxperts.com/14-fr...f-urls-needed/ We still need search engine friendly URLs for this Clip Share site. I'd like to get these done this week if possible, but want to make sure the candidate doing it understands these few things: 1) All sections on the this Clip Share 2.6 site should be SEF. This includes all video pages, all channel (category pages), Most Viewed, Most Discussed, etc. 2) There should never be any duplication of pages after the URLs are SEF. Example - If the SEF URL is: http://www.samplesite.com/view/210/h...he-video-title then there should never exist the dynamic URL for that video, for example: http://www.samplesite.com/view_video...e=&category=mr Categories, feeds, Channels should also not have any duplication of URLs. 3) The method used for creating SEF URLs should be easily transferred to Clip Share 3.0 or Clip Share upgrades. If the site is updated to a later version of the Clip Share script , then we'd like the URLs to stay intact without problems. The worse thing that could happen is that an upgrade breaks URL formatting. We don't want that to happen. So, if you can document and handle this through .htaccess or another mod_rewrite condition, then it should carry over to other versions without problems. Please PM me with a quote to do this if you feel that you can handle it easily enough. Thanks! |

Looks like several in need of this option
![]() We're a search engine optimization company and the Clip Share site is for a client. The biggest drawback to Clip Share as we see it are the URLs of sections, videos, channels, etc. They are horribly formed, but most CMS software is until you tweak it. This should be pretty easy considering mod_rewrite. Some other things we'll look at doing within the first few weeks on top of search engine friendly URLs (but we need that piece done first and foremost): 1) Better paging URLs. The default paging is horrible and there's no reason why it can't be search engine friendly. 2) Permanent 301 redirect for videos that are deleted. The worst thing that can happen for a classifieds site, video site, or any other web site, is for videos to be deleted/removed by the admin or visitor and then the resulting response is a 404. This can be handled easily. Whenever a video page URL doesn't exist, then permanently redirect it to the category the video belonged to. That way you lose no link value and any external links still give the site's categories link value. 3) Enhance the ability to add custom text to categories via the admin. We'd like to better optimize category pages by adding blocks of unique text for search engines to crawl. 4) Better enhance the columns to show cross-related information that is semantically close to the category/video being played. There's lots of improvement here. and so on... ;-) Any takers on the SEF URLs modifications? |

Hi Tastyfood,
I'm not sure I follow you when you say "you can find it in the forum for $." Could you be more specific or explain a little more about where others could find out more about how to do this? I noticed on your Tastyfood.tv site that the channels and other important areas do not use optimized URLs. Is there some reason you didn't rewrite these URLs too? Thanks Brian |
