Default Questions about changing template design

Hi,

I need to totally change the design of the CS template; mainly the homepage. I will need a more "business" look; as opposed to, the U-Tube look.

I have some questions about the code for the CS script. I notice that they are using Smarty and I'm not that knowledgeable about Smarty coding.

1) Is it possible to change the entire design of the homepage using regular HTML? If so, how hard would it be to do that?

2) Will I have to know Smarty in order to change template design? I was going to hire a HTML programmer to redesign the site and then I was going to merge or insert it into the CS script. Is there any reason that this can't be done?

3) Is there a certain way this code has to be modified?

Sorry if these questions seem dumb, but I really don't know how smarty works. I'm trying to understand how it effects the writing and merging of the code. In other words, is it possible to even change the design of the CS template (homepage) without knowlege of Smarty? I would appreciate any help you can give in explaining this to me.

Thanks,
Deano

you will need to edit the *.tpl files which are in templates folder. All the design related html are there.
For example index.php page has 3 tpl files.
1. head1.tpl
2. index.tpl
3. footer.tpl

you don't have to edit the smarty code in order to change the html template. just place the smarty code as it is where yuo want to place that particular section.

deano,

I hope you didn't buy ClipShare yet!!!!!!!!

Is a big s...t and you can't change the design very easy. I'm a HTML programmer(a good one, but after this project i will need a long vacation ) and i try from 3 weeks to change the design for a client and is like a long nightmare!!!!!!! you will see that the half from styles are not in a css file, HTML code is not modular

for the team: if you want to sell a products please provide a good quality code, this is the worst i've ever seen!!!!!!! and please make a modular code in tpl file. To write the same code lines in 100 places is hilarious...why you use .tpl then!!!!!!! only for header and footer ??????

i hope to not delete my message, so every person to know what they buy!!!!!

It hasn't been that bad changing it. I agree a modular tpl files would have been nice, but its not that hard to figure out. I could use a vacation too though, it takes a while. You forgot the right.tpl on index too....

index.php also includes the following file:-
right.tpl

Thanks all for the info. I had a developer create my homepage using HTML and now I'm trying to merge it with the CS code. It's looks like this will be harder than I expected, but I have to do it now. Also, I've hired someone to make modifications to the PHP code and I hope that works.

Wish me luck!
