Hi,

It works on a full CS installation (the already uploaded videos will be streamed from the same server).

HI guys,
I am really interested in multi-server plugin as my ffmpeg hosting account gives so little bandwidh monthly.

My question is-

Should the second server support clip-share? I have access to SSH but the clip share cannot be runned from there...

It would be great to plug in an extra server of 600-900 GBs of bandwidhth and diskspace to my clipshare site
I hope somebody can answer this question!

Thanks a lot
Merkur

Hey,
I don't quite see how you're planning on going about that but it doesn't sound like the best idea to add a server just for more bandwidth if it's for less than a 1000GB of bandwidth...

What server do you have and how much are you paying? Any decent server for CS will have at least 2000GB of bandwidth standard, and most servers I set up have 6000GB for people...

The problems your going to encounter with two servers won't be worth the cost savings, the multi-server plugin is really meant to offload server resource usage to different servers by hosting the conversion on one server and the pages themselves on another.

Let me know what you're up to in terms of hosting right now and I can probably set you up on the right course But send me a PM or an email to avoid jacking this thread.

Hi Cody,
thanks for your reply. I am just test driving the CS script with a standard cirtex shared hosting account.

I have been using Hostmonster since years now and I relie on them.
They actually offer "unlimited" bandwidth and diskspace, but I know there is no such thing like "unlimited" so I guess their limits goes up to 3k-6k for both bandwidth and space.

So it would be great if I can use the multi server plugin there. But this is just future plans. I haven't even launched the site yet

I just wished to know if the multi-server will work on a server that doesn't support ClipShare - like the one I have on hostmonster.

Cheers

No, you want to use two server with the script and they should be in the same datacenter, otherwise your just opening yourself up to lots of problems. It's meant to handle load balancing not cheat bandwidth providers.

It sounds like the thumbs will be loaded on the main server eventually causing too much space usage on the hard drives. Wouldn't it be better to leave the video thumbs where the converted videos are?

Default how it works?

Hi guys,

I just wonder how the multi-server plug in works. Like I have mainsite.com, server1.mainsite.com, server2.mainsite.com, server3.mainsite.com. Then when a user uploads a video, where the video will be uploaded to? Will it go to main server, or second server (server1.mainsite.com), or third server (server2.mainsite.com) or 4th server (server3.mainsite.com)? Or it will just upload to a random server fairly? Does the plug in allow us to configure this feature?

Thanks
