Some kind of control panel for members to edit their videos and messages would be good, currently it's hard to delete or edit video. I mean something like in youtube.
And there should be edit button on video page if you have added the vid. |

Or something like a user interface where you can exactly do everything you want including editing, adding text and everything else.

This has a legal problem. If a user uploads a family vacation video and it is reviewed by the site owner as OK, without copyright issues. Then the user replaces the video with Part 1 of the film currently in theaters. The owner of the site can now be held liable and get fined for violations of copyright if this is taken to court. It can result in a fine of more than $50,000 per instance. That is why limited editing or delete is the preferred upgrade rather than video replace.
Clip Share already has a remove in the user's My Videos area. Editing software online is very CPU intensive and often fails, altogether, if the original video is too compressed. A third party plug-in video editing in the cloud, is maybe a good option when it becomes available. Developing such an online editing app from scratch, is expensive. The number of people actually using it is probably pretty small. Most people don't edit much at all. Those that do edit, will edit their video first and then upload it. Editing online will probably be painfully slower unless there is a huge server investment. So anyone trying it, I think, usually leaves and uses workstation video editing instead. I've added a thumb updater and uploader to a site I administer. The code could fairly easily have a video replacement option, but the legal risk is too high. You have to be a member to see the mod, but you can see it illustrated in the help files at popmodal.com Last edited by alexstorm : 03-16-2012 at 06:04 PM. |
