H264 support in the new flash player

It would be nice to start using h264 + AAC instead of the old video flash codecs.. see this example its running at 500kbsec.

Their is a lot of FREE information out their, and maybe I can hack something up this weekend for anyone interested.. the actual flash player though would need to be recompiled to allow support for this.

anyone done this before I take on the potential task for clip-share?

what version, I haven't installed 4.07 yet, and just wondering, looking at convert.php it doesn't look like its doing h264 encoding yet?

Yeah, was even for 2.6 and is for 4.xx.
But be sure you do not run any shared or Critex like host as it is useless then.

Im still waiting for my auth to the private forms, since I just bought clip share, so I guess I should of waited to look in their

i had a problem installing gpac on my server to run the h264 mod

and on a previous server i also had problems with mencoder as well

if you check out the guy who inspired the x264 mod in the first place he made this mod first for ffmpeg, then updated it to use mencoder

i much perfer using ffmpeg and maybe looking at his code and examples, it dosn't look that hard to make th x264 mod using ffmpeg, still creates small videos etc, but his code/ bash script is for mp4 files and not flv files

maybe it might be better to use the new version, but if you like using ffmpeg, maybe this might be a way to go

wingchun22 what *nix are you running? compile issues ? I have had a lot of exp getting ffmpeg, mencoder, gpac, mp4box etc installed, many times its a struggle
