user record option is a must

it whould be nice to see a webcam / user record option sometime soon

maybe switching it on or off in admin of course poeple whould need either fms or red5 , maybe switching it on or off in admin could be a option

theres a couple of new video sharing scripts poping up with this feature already ie 'cliphouse'

not alot of use for most sites but on adult or similar sites this option is needed and whould be very usefull

Adrian, as a developer I am sure you already know that one of the most important steps when programming is planning. As such I don't understand why Clip-Share still doesn't have a general roadmap posted up. This would give everyone a general idea as to what to expect from each version as well as a rough idea as to what the intervals between each big update will be.

In addition to that, it would give the CS staff a general idea as to where you you want to go with this. It brings everyone on to the same page, rather than randomly picking feature requests to implement into the next version.

A roadmap isn't something that is set in stone, but it does set certain goals, which in term helps streamline your work flow.

I am having a hard time finding the words to properly describe what I mean. Any ways, that's my .02 cents.

some times people/groups fly by the seat of their pants, but I for one being in software development for over 16 years am a fan of roadmaps, task tracking, ya-da-ya-da

I agree with zkiller and gateway. Even if it is not in stone, a general outline of what is to come is a good thing to plan for. By the way, 4.0.8 still is not in the client area...

Hi,

I'll see what i can do to make the roadmap appear :-). I agree, a roadmap/project planning would be good.

Roadmap - interesting, but don't forget this is not Microsoft product, not so expensive, and also not used by millions.
And there is no dozens or hundreds of people hired to take care about product, responsible of product's different areas.
So don't expect too much from few persons

While I agree and totally understand what you are saying, it is entirely beside the point. Structure and setting some goals is a good thing.

I didn't said something is wrong or right. Even said: "interesting".
So it seems you didn't "totally unuderstand" what I'm saying.

The number of people working on a project is entirely inside the point.
We are not discussing of any software but of ClipSahre script.
This one has some limits and it's nearly impossible to change it.

theres a whole bunch of 'other' video sharing scripts poping up that are alot more fully featured than clipshare is at the moment

the clipshare team need to think long and hard about investing more money time and effort into this project, or things good go pear shaped over a very short period of time

i don't no whos pocketing all the money for sales and releated services, but as in any busiinees , you need to invest more than you take sometimes if you want to stay ahead of the game

be warned, things really need to change , and fast

basing my opion from running my own software site here

it might seem ok for the owner of a project to keep taking taking and taking

but if you don't give poeple things back or a reason to contribute help or stay loyal to your project, then they will leave, i have experianced this myself on my own projects

all it takes is one person to decide to go open source with there project and all thoose poeple who have payed or whould think of paying in the future whould dissmiss your project and switch to open soucre models

the ground you have gathered in say the past few years could be overtaken and leaped ahead , if you do not plan to counter these types of situations

ie

the amount of times first time users come on and complain about support issues

the unending release of bugy updates

the lack of poeple helping others out

questions and support items left unanswered by cs team, only for coummunity members to answer

etc etc etc

LOL, dargre, you must know that you are one the few here that I hold great respect for, even if I don't always agree with your views or in some instances, your choice of words. The point is, that you are missing the "point". Company size has absolutely nothing to do with it. Granted, a smaller company won't have the same capacity as a larger company, but that does not eliminate the need for planning.

If you truly want to be successful and put out the best product possible, then you gotta plan for it. Just winging it more than likely won't yield the desired results in the long haul.

Oh, and never say never - the sky is the limit. Anything is possible, just sometimes it requires some out of the box thinking, hard work and dedication. Just think back a few years...
