What will CS 4.1 new features be?

Hi,

Some more features:
- jquery everywhere (for current js scripts, for ajax scripts)
- rotating thumbnails (already done...needs implementing)
- posibility for the user to chose the area from the avatar he wants to display
- probably some cache mechanisms like apc, eaccelerator, file, memcache and xchache (already implemented)
- possibility to fully customize the number of items on a page (this will somehow also influence the design)
- more features in the admin
- probably dropdown with flags for the language selector
- real utf8 support (with php-utf8, mbstring or no mbstring)

90% of the features i listed above are already done (some of them i used for years in my own projects, some of them i added in a current clipshare project)

I will also take care of a simple roadmap, better a wiki with a roadmap. Right now i'm not able to work at my full capacity, i'm at my parents house and i need to help them, once i move back to my own place i will start 100% working again for clipshare.

if you are going to start rotating thumbs , you need to think more about creating more thumbs, rotating just 3 thumbs is not that celever and creating more than 3 can run into problems on short length video clicks

how about some sort of settings in admin to decide the amount of thumbs created, maybe 3 as standard or more if a user requires

then of course you run into problems when poeple update, if they choose more thumbs than they already have they need some way of gening more thumbs

please sort the groups out where members can be put in a group and given different powers like being able to download this would be better then some thumbs changing as it's part of if they pay to join your site also look at the paypal system this is just not working if so please point me in the right direction as i cannot get it to work and is pretty useless without putting people into a group where thy can have the extra things for joining

Sincerly i dont have to much experience with payment systems, but i will research and add more payment sistems also.

Currently i create 20 thumbs, for a beta version of Clipshare 4.1/5.x. The number could be specified in the siteadmin.

Development process (when starting).
1. Demo (everyone can follow progress).
2. Roadmap.
3. Everyone can test and report bugs (i have to say 4.0.7 runs 99.5% correctly on my server, but as you can see there are people who have problems).
4. Everyone can come with ideas and features (implementing these features will be based on the requests number, but we will have the last word though).

but different group abilitys would be one of the key things if you could sort this ie

1)member joins then offered several types of membership(free/supscription/trial)

2.5)admin then sets up for each group different types of ability for the joiner i.e

free)member gets limited amounts of uploads and limited amounts of viewings per week or per set by admin

subscrition)member gets depending on there subscrition choice differerent abilty amounts bottom/middle/top on the amount they pay this could easily be done by simpley allowing admin to set bandwidth/space/uploads per suscription

trial)user gets a limited amount of time of usages say 20days or somthing then is reverted back to free after time period is over they cannot return to trial again unles they now pay for full usages in the suscription section

2)member is then offered when desided different payments screen with said payment methods that once you have sorted out on the payment system they can choose general ones i would add if you are sorting this is (paypal/neteller/paychecks)just a few i know of that should be defo added

the abov would be great if possible as this is clealy what most people want to have there sites for in the end i would guess

it is really sad that we wont have sub-categories in 4.1 symtab said it would be bugy i did not understand why it would be! and because most of the video sharing sites dont have sub-categories...

maybe not many video sharing sites have sub-categories but it is requested alot and not only on CS
anyway please try your best to have sub-categories... it would be helpful

i would not like to go for mod because i will have problem everytime i will updatet my cs so please @ least try doing sub-categories

1, Playlist
2, Live Streaming
3, Embed Code that work on most of the social site like (Hi5, Facebook,Myspace), Current embed code works in Myspace but not in hi5, friendster
4,Customization user profile,
5, Flash player(with more feature than current)

the request of sub-categories is very high and you can check the forum for that

I had a full list of feature requests and improvements in, but at the moment their are only three that come mind.

1. the ability to install more than one template, kinda like it was in CS3. This makes the development of new templates much easier. Overwriting your current template files isn't the best solution IMHO.

2. a fully modular system. This would simplify the development of mods and integrations.

3. a moderator system, to include a modcp.

I am sure I'll think of more later.
