Default Clipshare vs Rayzz

Hello,

I'm still battling between choosing Clipshare or Rayzz, and it would be great if anyone could offer a balanced pros/cons discussion on the two options. All of the commentary I've read so far is extremely biased and probably written by people emplyed by either group! Here's what I've noticed so far:

*Clipshare price is much more reasonable at $99 vs $418 for Rayzz
*Clipshare support is virtually non-existant; they do not respond to repeated e-mail inquiries. Rayzz support was quick to respond
*I like the demo site for Clipshare much more than Rayzz

Any either inputs would be greatly appreciated! I'm not a technical person, so I may be missing some huge technology benefits.

Thanks,
Josh

Default More information

I should also add, that I'm more interested in a photo album-type sharing site, as opposed to video sharing. However, I like the YouTube-style layout for a photo album. I tried to find a good Flickr clone I could buy, but with no luck.

Hi,

What i can tell you from a developers point of view is that to edit the
templates for rayzz (actually there are no templates) its not so easy, for
clipshare its quite easy. This in case you want to customize your site.

pro clipshare:
- clipshare looks better by default
- support will change (i guarantee you will get a reply in maximum 24 hours in the worse cases)
- new version 2.7 is almost done (seo urls, multi-language, no more need to edit include/config.php, bans system, user/admin can change thumb of a video, system check (detects possible problems) and security&speed improvements).
- there are a lot of mods&addons for clipshare

pro rayzz:
- has support for photos, audio, games...
- supports php5 only (can be a + or a -)
- like you said support is good (i have no idea)

These opinions are my personal opinions, although i work for clipshare.

What tickets did you place and you didnt get a reply? Please tell me
and i will reply as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Adrian.

Thanks symtab!
This forum was offline for quite some time a couple of weeks ago, so I tried contacting Clipshare via the online contact form. After a few attempts and days of waiting, Valentin Tudor finally replied that Clipshare was still in business (yes, I asked the question after so many unanswered e-mails), but Valentin said he had been on an extended business trip. When I thanked him for his response and posed my questions, he again failed to reply. At that point, I started looking at other solutions other than Clipshare, and I discovered Rayzz. My most recent reply to Valentin is below...would be great if you have any insight you could share on these points.

Thanks!
Josh

Hi Valentin,

My apologies, but the response from ClipShare has been very slow, which had concerned me. I was also suprised to see that the user forum has been offline for many days now -- I would think this is a very useful resource for your customers and that all efforts would be made to re-launch quickly. Furthermore, there has been a large amount of criticism of Clipshare's slow or non-existant technical support. All these factors led me to wonder if Clipshare was still in business, and have created concerns about a possible purchase. Some questions I have:

1. Can Clipshare be modified to create a photo/album sharing site instead of a video sharing site? Do you have live example sites that have used Clipshare to achieve this
2. Since the user forum is offline, what other developer resources or discussion rooms are available to share questions and ideas on Clipshare? As a first time user, I'd prefer to interact with other developers who use Clipshare.
3. Do you still provide the Professional Script Installation Service? What is the turnaround time
4. How easy is it to customize the features? For example, I'd like to add Google Maps API to the entry page -- I presume Clipshare is fully customizable?
5. Is your live support ever online? What hours can we find someone online?

Appreciate your help, and look forward to hearing back soon.
Many thanks,
Josh

You might want to check out another product by the same developers of ClipShare. Called MediaShare.

Hi,

1. Yes, with good PHP/MySQL knowledge it can be modified to anything.
2. Only this forum is available.
3. Yes. 48 hours.
4. If you know PHP/MySQL then it is. It's not a CMS its a video sharing script.
5. We dont offer live support only ticket based support.

Thanks,

One year later...

I asked a pre-sales question on the forum on 2/9 and submitted it as a ticket on 2/12 and still have not received an answer.
